UAE-based hospitality group Jannah Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Officer, Nehme Imad Darwiche, took part in the two-day Gulf & Indian Ocean Hotel Investors’ Summit (GIOHIS) 2016 as one of the keynote speakers.
Attended by around 350 delegates from the Gulf, East Africa, the Indian Ocean islands, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Australia, this year’s GIOHIS featured 70 senior level speakers – with the majority of them hotel investors and chief officers.
Nehme talked about executives at new and fast-rising companies pitching for a hundred-million-dollar investment. A round table discussion was also held where Nehme shared his insights on employee engagement and motivation.
“Jannah is part of the company called Darwiche Worldwide Legacy (DWL), which is a holding company. When we started Jannah, we made it a five-star operator, and we have a hotel that has the world’s fastest hotel Internet – the Jannah Burj Al Sarab. Then we set up Jannah Place, which is a hotel apartment. Then came Andalus Hotels & Resorts that competes with five-star hotels. I set up this company (DWL) when I was 26 – it was the best three years and we presently have seven hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We are moving forward to Morocco, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, with additional properties in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“We have a great track record and I want to share with you why we do so. We focus on balance or ‘Al Mizan’. People younger than me want to focus on all aspects to make the world a better place. Our four values (our talents, the balance, goodness and selflessness) make up the symbol of a falcon, which represents determination. It never stops until it gets what it wants. Jannah’s Ten Chambers of is our philosophy and it starts with our diversity because at the end of the day we are one world.”
Of Lebanese origin, Nehme brought with him a wealth of extraordinary hospitality experience, climbing from a career in stewarding through a journey of self-study and education. He then joined a luxury hotel chain as a food and beverage manager, where he met a real-life Bedouin, Abu Matar Al Mansouri. The teachings of life in the desert and the noble tradition of Bedouin hospitality sparked a vision within him while climbing further up to the position of a hotel manager. Graduated Master of Business Administration from Campbell School of Business, Nehme brings passion and know-how to Jannah Hotels & Resorts team. He spearheads the vision of the company and ensures that every step from well-devised strategies through to detailed operational management initiatives, are delivered professionally and successfully.
GIOHIS is a brand new type of hotel investor summit, aimed specifically at meeting the needs of hotel and serviced apartment owners, investors and developers; and of those who provide services to them.
