The lights will go out at Jannah Burj Al Sarab next month as the hotel marks Earth Hour with a significant tribute to WWF’s annual environmental awareness event.
From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday 25 March, the entire 18 floors of Jannah Burj Al Sarab will be plunged into darkness. Dozens of hotel talents together with guests will gather in the lobby and hold lit candles to show momentous participation in the movement.
The award-winning innovative hotel is an advocate for green technology, dedicated to ensure environmental sustainability. Jannah Burj Al Sarab is a leader in the field of resource sustainability with water heaters powered by solar panels, motion sensor LED lighting and eco-friendly room management system. In addition, the hotel installed systems that regulate water usage and AC efficiency, while the talents are trained to minimize paper wastage through the use of paperless software management. The hotel’s all-day dining, The Dining Room, has implemented candlelit dining since the concept change late last year.
“Last year’s participation of Jannah Burj Al Sarab saw noteworthy realization from our talents and guests of the importance of collective effort especially in ecological conservation,” said Jannah Hotels & Resorts chief executive officer Nehme Imad Darwiche. “This year, it is not only about gathering and lighting up candles for an hour, but also about making a difference by initiating sustainability practices, becoming a noble example to the community and the world.”
