The 18-storey Burj Al Sarab by Jannah, which overlooks Abu Dhabi corniche, applies smart applications for its systems to reduce power consumption inside its 318 rooms and suites, better control its cooling system and generate solar power.
“The group has invested heavily in this project - besides those facilities, laundry and sheets can be transferred through pipes without the need to use lifts and consume power,” the hotel’s general manager and the group’s deputy operations manager Mr Richard Haddad said.
He said each room is equipped with LED lights that save up to 75 per cent of power compared with traditional lights, adding that solar boards were also installed on top of the building to generate power and warm bath water.
Lights in the hotel’s corridors are also automatic and self controlled while the BMS control system inside the building controls temperatures inside rooms and suites, halls, restaurants and other facilities.
“This hotel is one of the most advanced smart buildings in the UAE and it fulfils the requirements of sustainable development in the country - it also better serves guests and ensures more comfort and enjoyment in various climatic conditions,” Mr Haddad said.
According to HE Mohamed Bin Rubayeh Abed El Aziz Al Muheiri , chairman of Al Rubayeh Group , the hotel made a good decision by investing in smart systems as they are in line with Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030 intended to cut power consumption, protect the environment and ensure viable development in the emirate.
